Lackland Air Force Base is an Air Force base in Bexar County, Texas. The base is managed by the 802d Mission Support Group, an enclave of the city of San Antonio, and an enclave of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC). It is the only location for enlisted Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT).

Lackland AFB is part of Joint Base San Antonio, which was formed by the merger of Fort Sam Houston, Randolph Air Force Base, and Lackland Air Force Base on October 1, 2010.

Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), which contains Lackland Air Force Base, was established in accordance with congressional legislation enacting the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission’s recommendations. The legislation required the amalgamation of three nearby but independent military stations into a single joint base – one of 12 joint bases established in the United States as a result of the legislation.
